Off subject, I've got five questions for the story and the questions are...

1. What is the problem at the beginning of the story? Caesar was wondering the men's netball team.

2. What do we find out from Whaea Melanie about why there are so many boys on the team? Maybe because Whaea Melanie knew that if she had boys on her team with the other teams that only have girls so it would rattle the girls so that would be chance bet the girls.

3. How did the spectators in the crowd react to the boys on the team?

4. What was the lesson or moral of this story?

5. In my opinion, are there "boys sports" and "girl sports"? Explain your thinking. Well people are just sexist now that means some people just think certain people can do certain things and certain people can't do things. For example netball some people say netball is only a girls sport also basketball is a boys sport.

So that all for today signing off now...

4. Why was Hamilton games cancelled? Because protests in New Zealand became violent and the two games cancelled as result.

5. Do you think the protest was successful? Yes why, because in the end the apartheid policy was lifted and they did normal  rugby games.

6. How do you think New Zealand protesters help Nelson Mandela? Well they lifted the apartheid policy and full colour people got to rugby and got treated fairly.

So those are the all the questions and answers and if don't get it do have a blog with the summary of the story.

Mirror Image

 Mirror Image

Now the story Mirror image is a true story and it is a story that is talking about how meggie and Zodwa have similar things in there story.

The Springbok Tour

Hamilton, New Zealand, 25 July 1981

South Africa wouldn't let black people play in there rugby team and New Zealand wasn't happy that south Africa wouldn't black people play rugby and so New Zealand started a protest to let full colour people play rugby. And when south Africa found out that New Zealand was protesting to let full colour race play rugby the south Africans made a political policy called apartheid. Now what does apartheid mean? Well if this is about the springbok tour so apartheid mean that the white south Africans could only play rugby and not the black south Africans. New Zealand got other rugby and wanted them to go against the apartheid policy. and the south Africans started getting the police involved, and New Zealand found out they would put on these special helmets so they wouldn't get hurt from the polices special batons. and soon after that the rugby games were cancelled and a result.

So the a summary of the springbok tour.

Sadako and her belief about paper cranes.

Now today I will be blogging something on the the winter learning journey, but anyway of subject in one of the activities on the winter learning journey and that activity is Sadoko and her belief about paper cranes and that's what i'm going to talk to you about.

So there is story of how Sadoko got cancer and how she started making paper cranes and also how her friends/class mates make a stone statue of her holding a golden crane.

Now this the story...

Sadako Sasaki was a Japanese girl living in Hiroshima when the atomic bomb was dropped on Japan (August 6, 1945). In 1955, at age 11, Sadako was diagnosed with leukemia, a type of cancer caused by the atomic bomb. While in the hospital, Sadako started to fold paper cranes. In Japan, there is a belief that if you folded 1000 paper cranes, then your wish would come true. Sadako spend 14 months in the hospital, folding paper cranes with whatever paper she could get. Paper was scarce so she used the paper from medicine bottles, candy wrappers, and left over gift wrap paper. Her wish was that she would get well again, and to attain peace & healing to the victims of the world. Sadako died on October 25, 1955, she was 12 years old and had folded over 1300 paper cranes. Sadako’s friends and classmates raised money to build a memorial in honor of Sadako and other atomic bomb victims. The Hiroshima Peace Memorial was completed in 1958 and has a statue of Sadako holding a golden crane. At the base is a plaque that says:

This is our cry.

         This is our prayer.

         Peace in the world.

Although Sadako died at a very young age, her legacy continues. To this day, the paper crane is probably the most recognised origami model. The paper crane is often given as a wish for peace. Sadako's brother (Masahiro Sasaki), who is now over 70 years old, saved five of the original paper cranes folded by his sister when she was in the hospital. He hopes to donate the remaining 5 cranes to the the five continents of the world. One of the original paper cranes folded by Sadako was donated to the USS Arizona Memorial in Hawaii. It is hoped "that Japan and the United States can overcome resentment and animosity over the war and strengthen their relationship. One of the original paper cranes folded by Sadako was given as a gift to the Tribute WTC Visitor Center in New York City. It is hoped that the fingernail-sized crane will remind us of a little girl's wish for world peace. Masahiro says, "people from all over the world will see the crane that Sadako folded, and will desire peace. In Seattle, Washington, USA, Nobel Peace Prize nominee, Dr. Floyd Schmoe, built a life-size statue of Sadako. The statue was unveiled on August 6, 1990, 45 years after the bombing of Hiroshima. The statue is in the Seattle Peace Park and often has paper cranes draped over it. Unfortunately, not everyone is at peace; the statue was vandalized in 2003 and again in 2012. The statue has been repaired.

So that the story about Sadako and her belief about paper cranes.

O.R.E.O

As you can see I have been doing a lot of O.R.E.O which stands for Opinion, Reason, Explain/Evidence and Opinion. And today I am doing my own choice and my choice is that healthy food should be more cheaper the unhealthy food.

It is important that year 7-8 do friday sport.

It is important that year 7-8 do Friday sport.

Do I agree yes why because sports can get you fit and healthy and you can make progress and better in your sport. And people will be more pro-active then been on devices inside. Also if you do sport more often you will release B.O which stands for body Oder which is also sweat and when the sweat releases new healthy germs do come on your skin which is good for your skin. Also what would you prefer unhealthily and fat or healthy and fit.

Wants

 Wants

In class I been doing this thing called O.R.E.O which stands for opinion, reason, explanation/examples, and lastly opinion. And my O.E.R.O topic is V.R headset.

Should 7 & 8 have phones at school.

Should kids have phones at school.

Should kids be allowed to have phones at school do I agree yes why because at the end day when you need to call your parents so you know where your parents are and so your parents know where are.

also when I feel a bit down you can listen some music by myself so I happy and peaceful so I don't get angry at other when they annoy me.

Also when you want to see friends but  you can't seem to find them you can call them and find them.

Do Now

CARR stamps encourage students to make positive choices, do I agree no why, because when some students do get CARR stamps and behave in class and then when they are outside of school they can be different students outside of school.

also some just don't care at all if they don't get CARR stamps because they think that CARR stamps are there for nothing so they try not to get CARR cards or CARR stamps.

Tuesday 29 June 2021

Students should not were there school uniform.

Students should not were there school uniform.

Students should not were there school uniform, do I agree not why because then it show a reputation on school and it also show that all the children are respecting the school rules. And it also show that the children are wearing the right appropriate clothes and not showing a lot of skin.

Orchestras

 Orchestras

Today in class I been working orchestras and today I got a few Questions & Answers about orchestras.

Research About Orchestras

How do the orchestra seat the instruments? So the percussion instruments are at the back of the orchestra then there are the brass instruments in front of the percussion instruments. Then the woodwind instruments in the centre of the orchestra then last but not less than string instruments are at the very front of the orchestra.

What instruments are included? Trumpet, Trombone, French Horn, Bass Flute, Flute, Violin, Viola, Tuba, cello, Piccolo, Oboe, Carinet etc.

Who is the most important member of the orchestra? Conductor/Music Director because without the conductor the people playing in the orchestra won't know what to play and won't know what note to play.

What is the biggest group of instruments? The string instruments, the reason why they have more string instruments is because the string instruments keep the brass & percussion instruments from tring to be louder.

Do we have any orchestras in New Zealand? Yes we do, we have the A.P.O. which stands for Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra, C.S.O which stands for Christchurch Symphony Orchestra.

How many people are in an orchestra? One hundred people.

Cats are better than dogs...

 Cats are better than dogs...

Are cats better than dogs do I disagree yes why, because some cats can be a bit spoilt and thinking they can push other people around and sometimes a bit disloyal and do things don't ask do to do, and last when they dont like someone they can do things very dangerous things like stab there teeth in your skin and scratch you really badly and that won't be good.

Are dogs better than cats do I agree yes because dogs can really loyal and when you are bored you can just take the dog for a walk, and the dog is a fantastic gaurd dog but also dogs are very awesome when you can cuddle them and treat them like a brothe or like a sister. Like I said are cats better than dogs do I agree no.

Ice cream is better than cake.

Ice cream is better the cake...

Ice cream is better than cake, do I agree no why, becuase you can make many diffient flavours of cake and icing if you were going to to put icing on the cake, and another reason is becuase when you eat cake you wont get a brain frezze, reason why I also like cake is because cake is less heathy than ice cream whick is better. Another reason I like cake better than ice cream becuase when I bit into the cake and closed my eyes it felt like I was in a dream land. And also it is just the best thing to have cake. Like I said is lce cream better than cake do I agree no.

Hornby 2050

Traditional Instrument

 Traditional Instrument

This week I have been looking at two traditional instruments, the traditional instruments are the conch shell or knowing as pūtātara and the wooden trumpet or knowing as pūkāea. Here is a bit more information about the conch shell and the wooden trumpet.

Traditional Instrument

The Conch shell.

The conch shell was used for many reasons like, using the conch for if there is danger in the area or if danger coming out on sea.The conch shell can also be used for communication. Another way is if you were lost you could use the conch shell. Now the way you use the conch shell is pretty much simple: you use it like a trumpet, the way that you use the trumpet, you have your mouth in a position like if you have no teeth and at the same time make a buzzing sound.

And did you know that the conch shell is really rare to find on land but common in the sea

The Pūkāea Wooden Trumpet

The pūkāea wooden trumpet was really used for the thing that the conch was really used for. If there was danger in the area or danger coming from sea the pūkāea would be handy to use. Lets just say if a big event happened but the villagers don't know anything the leader's right hand man would use the Pūkāea so all the villagers would hear them and come to the whare.

Reflection

This week in class I am doing a reflection of what I have done in Te Ao Whanui.

In Te Ao Whanui I have been looking at invention that can change the world.

The time that I read the instruction carefully by doing a few comprehensions like Easio the yoghurt, the Jetboat

My personal best work is when I did the news report about the book New Zealand's Treasure Island.

The time when I was a self-manager was the time when I was skim-reading the stories throughout the week.

So that is it, that is my reflection throughout Te Ao Whanui so far.

Tuesday $5.00                                                                              Tuesday $16.00

Wednesday $7.50                                                                          Wednesday $14.00

Thursday $10.00                                                                           Thursday  $12.00

Friday $12.50                                                                                Friday $10.00

Saturday $15.00                                                                            Saturday $8.00

Electricity

In class we have been talking about the least important things and the most important thing that people use now,

I picked electricity because without electricity we can not turn on lights, use the oven to cook, to turn on the jug or not be able to have hot showers.

For me, if there was no electricity I would not be able to do homework.

And with covid, if Jacinda didn't tell us those instructions people in New Zealand would be dead day by day, so she is a hero because she told us what to do to keep safe from covid.
